The Minnesota Legislature finally has a transportation bill—and it includes historic funding for transit, biking, walking, and rolling. Let’s get it passed!
The Minnesota Legislature finally has a transportation bill—and it includes historic funding for transit, biking, walking, and rolling! The big vote could happen as soon as tomorrow. After months of debate and negotiations, we are on the verge of securing significant progress for our families, our climate, and our communities. We can’t let this opportunity slip away. Take action now: tell your state legislator to vote YES on the transportation bill and remind them to stay strong on funding for transit, bicycling, walking, and rolling.
If it passes, this bill will provide critical resources for expanding bus rapid transit service and electric busing in the metro, and for Safe Routes to School and biking, walking, and rolling statewide. It will support reliable Metro Mobility service and a second daily passenger train to Chicago. Its $78 million investment in transit, bicycling, walking, and rolling is an investment in a stable climate, clean air, access to jobs, and equitable, thriving communities that work for people of all ages, races, incomes, and abilities.
If it passes, this bill will do a lot to meet the needs of Minnesota families. But anything could happen this week as the special session comes to close—from cold feet to last-minute cuts. So much about this special session has already happened behind closed doors—and we have seen transit funding bargained away before. Don’t leave this vote to chance. Contact your legislator now. Tell them to hold firm on transit, bicycling, walking, and rolling dollars—and get this transportation bill passed!
