Canceled: Ayd Mill Road Community Meeting

UPDATE: To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, Saint Paul Public Works has canceled this in-person meeting. Instead, they plan to provide a recorded video presentation and comment form online. For more information, visit stpaul.gov/aydmillroad.

Your voice is needed to transform Ayd Mill Road in Saint Paul! Saint Paul Public Works will hold a community meeting on Thursday, March 19, to provide information about Ayd Mill Road and the proposed construction project slated to begin this summer. This includes current plans for an exciting new off-street path for people bicycling, walking, and rolling along Ayd Mill. Move Minnesota encourages our supporters and advocates in Saint Paul to attend to learn more and show support.

The current proposal to keep three lanes of car traffic on Ayd Mill and convert one lane into a protected 12-foot trail will help bicyclists and pedestrians move safely and easily through the city. At the same time, it is already a scaled-back version of what had previously been proposed. Critical decisions about the design and financing for the project are not yet final.

Creating a new biking and walking trail along Ayd Mill Road is already part of the Saint Paul Bike Plan, is an important step toward a Greenway Extension in Saint Paul, and strengthens the overall bicycle network by connecting existing bike facilities. It would happen as part of other scheduled maintenance work on the road.

An Ayd Mill trail has been discussed in Saint Paul for over a decade. It’s time to make it a reality! There are a lot of clear reasons to move forward in 2020, but this plan has already been watered down once just in the past year. Help make sure that doesn’t happen again. Get involved on March 19!
