Move Minnesota Announces Leadership Transition

A special announcement from Ken Rodgers, Move Minnesota Board Chair:

I’ve served as a board member at Move Minnesota for over seven years now. Throughout that time and now in my role as board chair, I have experienced firsthand how change serves as a positive catalyst for our community. And I am immensely proud of how the organization continues to evolve and grow.

This summer, another positive change is in the works. In the coming weeks, we are launching a search for a new executive director at Move Minnesota.

This news is bittersweet. It means that we have an exciting opportunity to bring in a new leader who will help us continue to grow this amazing, people-powered movement for equitable transportation options. And it also means we are saying goodbye to our outgoing executive director, Jessica Treat, who is leaving her role as of May 31.

Our thanks to Jessica for her leadership and service to this movement. Jessica worked for many years to bring together our two legacy organizations, and she is now taking a step back to pursue new challenges. The groundwork that she laid during her time with us continues to guide us into the future and we wish her all the best.

After thoughtful consideration, the Board has selected Linnea House, director of finance and administration, to act as interim executive director while the organization seeks out a new executive director. Linnea brings over fifteen years of experience within the nonprofit community that will serve us incredibly well during this transition. Her prior experience as an executive director, as well as her approach here at Move Minnesota, gives us complete confidence in her leadership. As Linnea shared with me this week, “This is a time of so much potential for the organization. Since I started working with Move Minnesota four years ago, we’ve changed and grown substantially, and we are poised to deepen our impact here in the metro and across Minnesota. I am thankful for this opportunity to move us forward and am thankful to Jessica for all she’s done to set us up for success.”

During times of transition, I remind myself that in a movement powered by people, we’re holding a collective dream, and a collective vision. That’s why I’m so energized about our movement’s ability to create change. Achieving our shared goal—a Minnesota that is more just, more joyful, and more sustainable—is bigger than any one of us. I’m grateful to be connected to such a committed community, and to be working alongside you all for a better future.

If you have thoughts about what leadership could look like at Move Minnesota, we would love to hear from you. I encourage you to reach out to Linnea at linneah@movemn.org or 651-789-1411. We look forward to sharing more about our executive director search this summer.

With gratitude,

Ken Rodgers
