Salary & Compensation: $60,000-65,000 annual salary dependent on qualifications. Position Summary
Move Minnesota is seeking a Program Manager to help us lead an innovative two-year project, using events and destinations as an entry point to encourage longer-term transportation behavior change. Saint Paul has a rapidly expanding transit network, which provides an opportunity to transform the travel patterns of communities that have not previously had access to fast, frequent transit. This person will lead programming to transform one-time and infrequent riders into confident, regular transit users.
An essential function of this role is the ability to establish strong client relationships with event destinations and communities in the East Metro. This role requires a person who is adept at working in a flexible and fast-paced environment with a dynamic workflow, has strong time management and problem-solving skills, and has experience with cold calling, project management, planning, delegating, and prioritizing work.
This position will report to and work in close partnership with our Program Director and will coordinate regularly across staff and project teams to meet organizational needs. This position is a two-year grant funded position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Programming
- Lead all program strategies and grant related work for a two-year pilot project.
- Develop and maintain client relationships with event vendors, government entities, and communities.
- Develop an incentive program that is measurable and effective at creating behavior change.
- Develop transportation surveys and analyze data to ensure measurement goals are met. Build and maintain relationships with key contacts at Metro Transit
- Lead the development of project outreach and education activities including but not limited to presentations, transit trips, workshops and various community outreach events.
- Support, coach, and collaborate with a coordinator-level staff member also focused on this project.
- Supervise and coach volunteers on education and engagement activities as needed to achieve project outcomes.
- Track client contacts and outcomes in customer relationship management systems.
- Actively partner with communications staff to achieve the goals of the grant.
- Report activities in quarterly, blogs and annual program reports.
- Contribute to written communications, including e-newsletters, social media, and other marketing materials.
- In conjunction with team members, develop and implement a plan to shift perceptions of transit, biking, rolling, and walking.
General
- In collaboration with staff and stakeholders, advances the organization’s continued work to integrate racial justice frameworks into its internal operations and external programming.
- Adheres to organizational values: equity, integrity, elevating voices, excellence, transparency, and stewardship.
- Ability to staff occasional events on evenings and weekends, which can include transporting event supplies and helping set up event furniture (tables, chairs).
- Carries out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Program Director.
Position Qualifications
Minimum
- Knowledge of walking, biking, rolling, transit, and shared mobility as modes of transportation, and sensitivity to the way transportation issues affect people’s lives and communities.
- 3-5 years of experience managing programs toward effective outcomes and impact.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with corporate clients, government entities, and other key stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present persuasive information to a wide variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build shared understanding around approaches or strategies across the team, including coaching and providing effective feedback.
- Proficiency with standard office technologies including word processing software, virtual meeting tools, cloud technology, and databases.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural agility, including experience working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, language, ability, age, and socioeconomic status.
- Able to manage project budgets towards objectives in alignment with goals and strategy.
- Able to work proactively and respond and adapt quickly to external shifts in opportunities and timelines to maximize impact.
- Able to successfully manage assignments and multiple project components concurrently. Strong project management skills, including event planning, attention to detail and project deadlines, and delegation.
- Able to think strategically, problem-solve toward goals and outcomes, and work in a growth-mindset environment focused on experimentation and learning.
- Commitment to progressive causes impacted by transportation such as climate action, racial justice, disability justice, children and education, housing, health, and more.
- Enjoys contributing to a collaborative team environment, balancing proactive teamwork with the need to advance projects with a high level of independence.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 35 lbs.
Preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage clients and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated experience working in a sales environment and ability to track data in Salesforce.
Location
This position is housed at the Move Minnesota office in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We’re one block from the METRO Green Line’s Raymond Station and easy to reach on Metro Transit bus routes 16, 63, 67, and 87. Indoor bike parking and a private changing room are available. The building where our office is located has one floor (no stairs) and multi-stall restrooms.
As noted above, Move Minnesota’s team currently works in person from our office two partial days per week to foster staff-wide connection and collaboration. Remaining work is done remotely, during optional office hours, or out in the community. All Move Minnesota employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
